Evenflo LiteMax NXT
Quick verdict
- Verdict
- Caution
- Evidence
- Moderate
Consumer Reports rates its crash protection Better, but its vehicle fit only 2/5 in every method and its recline too upright for newborns.
- Caution
- CR: vehicle fit 2/5 with LATCH, belt and carrier-only, and a recline "too upright for premature infants/newborns".
- Hook-on LATCH connectors only; CR ranks it 44th of 46.
- Good
- Consumer Reports: Better crash protection; LockStrong belt tensioner and no-rethread harness.
- Light 8.6-lb carrier; Evenflo says its Green & Gentle fabric has no added flame retardants (manufacturer claim).
What we could not verify
- Only one lab has tested it.
- No chemical test located.
Why we reached this verdict
Consumer Reports rates the LiteMax NXT's crash protection Better, but its installation results are among the weakest here: vehicle fit of 2/5 whether installed with LATCH, the belt or carrier-only, a recline angle CR calls "too upright for premature infants/newborns", and hook-on LATCH connectors only. Its overall score of 43 ranks 44th of 46 infant seats.
We moved it from Recommended to Caution because poor fit and an upright recline are documented risks, especially for newborns. A 2026 recall of a LiteMax model (CS100111198, errors in the Spanish manual) names a different model number from this SensorySoothe version (CS100412545). Evenflo says its Green & Gentle fabric is free of added chemicals and added flame retardants; PFAS isn't named.

Federal compliance and recalls
Every seat sold in the US must meet FMVSS 213. The side-impact requirement, FMVSS 213a, applies from December 5, 2026. We did not find a side-impact (FMVSS 213a) statement on the manufacturer page we reviewed.
- NHTSA 26C002000 (A different model number): Covers the LiteMax Factory Select, model CS100111198 (incorrect limits in the Spanish manual), a different model number from this seat.
Materials and chemical claims
- “Green & Gentle Fabric is woven from recycled plastic bottles, free of added chemicals and added flame retardants” (Evenflo, manufacturer statement)
Certifications claimed: GREENGUARD Gold (manufacturer-stated). GREENGUARD Gold limits chemical emissions (VOCs) into indoor air. It does not test for flame retardants or PFAS, and it says nothing about crash performance. We could not confirm this claim in UL's certification database, which blocks automated checks.
Flame-retardant and "added chemicals" claim; PFAS is not named.
