Why we reached this verdict
Consumer Reports rates the Cloud T's crash protection Best, with an overall score of 88 and 5/5 vehicle fit using LATCH or the belt. It pairs rigid LATCH with a load-leg, anti-rebound base. CYBEX also claims the load leg reduces crash forces by up to 30% with rigid LATCH, but it publishes no method, so we don't rely on that figure.
The drawbacks are price ($649.95), a 12-lb carrier and a single lab's evidence. CYBEX describes the fabric as naturally flame-resistant rather than treated with added fire retardants and claims GREENGUARD Gold; PFAS is not addressed.

Federal compliance and recalls
Every seat sold in the US must meet FMVSS 213. The side-impact requirement, FMVSS 213a, applies from December 5, 2026. The manufacturer states: “Complies with new FMVSS213 side impact and frontal impact standard safety standards”. Manufacturer statement; we did not verify certification.
No recall of this seat was located in NHTSA's recall data (searched September 23, 2026).
Materials and chemical claims
- “Naturally flame-resistant fabric rather than added fire-retardant chemicals” (CYBEX, manufacturer statement)
Certifications claimed: GREENGUARD Gold (manufacturer-stated). GREENGUARD Gold limits chemical emissions (VOCs) into indoor air. It does not test for flame retardants or PFAS, and it says nothing about crash performance. We could not confirm this claim in UL's certification database, which blocks automated checks.
Flame-retardant claim only; PFAS is not addressed.
