What Independent Formula Testing Shows

Understand samples, original reports, consumer testing, manufacturer claims and market-wide research.

Start with the sample

A useful result identifies the tested product, format, package generation and lot. It also records the laboratory, date, analyte, method, result, unit and reporting limit. Without that information, a current can cannot inherit a result simply because its brand name matches.

Powder findings do not transfer to ready-to-feed formula. Reformulated products and different markets need their own correspondence.

Keep evidence types distinct

We distinguish original laboratory reports, independent consumer testing, manufacturer testing claims and aggregate regulatory research. A consumer article may establish that a named sample was tested while leaving the original method and lot dossier unavailable.

The FDA market survey describes market-wide testing. Its aggregate findings do not identify numerical results for this inventory's current SKUs.

What the current records cannot establish

None of the 31 imported records has a complete original numerical contaminant dossier tied to a physically verified current lot. That is a gap in the research available here, not a negative test and not proof that manufacturers perform no testing.

Testing for certain chemicals does not establish microbiological sterility or exclude unmeasured substances. A non-detect means below the applicable method's reporting capability. We preserve those limits rather than replacing them with contaminant-free language.

General formula research supports informed questions. Specialized feeding needs and diagnosed allergies require clinical guidance for the infant and exact product.
