Privacy policy
This page explains what The Verdict List collects, what it doesn't, and which outside services are involved — no legalese, no vague "may share data with partners" language.
The short version
This site doesn't have user accounts, doesn't track you individually, and doesn't sell data. If you sign up for email updates, your email address goes to our email provider, Kit, and nowhere else. Page-view analytics are anonymous and cookieless. If you click an affiliate link, the retailer you land on may track that visit under their own privacy policy, not this one.
What this site collects directly
Email address, only if you submit the signup form. The form posts directly to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), our email provider — The Verdict List itself never receives, stores, or has its own copy of your email address; it lives in Kit's system. Kit sends one confirmation email before you're subscribed to anything (double opt-in), and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Nothing else is collected directly by this site. There's no comment system, no account creation, no contact form beyond the email signup, and no first-party cookies set by The Verdict List itself.
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics service — it doesn't set cookies, doesn't use any persistent or cross-site tracking identifier, and doesn't collect personal data. It reports aggregate numbers like which pages were viewed and roughly how many people visited, with no way to identify an individual visitor. That's why this site has no cookie-consent banner: there's nothing here that requires one.
Cookies
The Verdict List itself sets no cookies. Two third parties involved with the site may set their own, under their own policies, not this one:
- Kit may set a cookie as part of processing the email signup form and sending the confirmation email.
- Amazon sets its own tracking cookie when you click an Amazon Associates affiliate link and land on amazon.com — that's how Amazon attributes a purchase to this site for the commission described in the affiliate disclosure. It happens on Amazon's site, under Amazon's privacy policy, after you've left this one.
Third parties this site uses
- Kit (email delivery for the signup list) — Kit's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare (cookieless web analytics and site hosting) — Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Amazon Associates (affiliate links — see the disclosure for how these are chosen) — Amazon's privacy notice.
Data retention
An email address stays in Kit's system until you unsubscribe, at which point it's removed from active sending — see Kit's own privacy policy for how long they retain records after that. Cloudflare's aggregate analytics numbers aren't tied to an individual, so there's no individual record to retain or delete in the first place.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from the email list at any time using the link in any email. To ask a question about data this site is involved in collecting, or to request anything else related to your data, contact TODO: your contact email.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters — a new analytics provider, a new email service, a new kind of data collected — this page will be updated and its "last reviewed" date will move. Check back here rather than assuming nothing has changed.
